Ronald Edgar Chevalier, Jr.    

Alaska State Troopers

April 4, 1982

Trooper Chevalier was shot and killed while responding to a domestic disturbance. 
He was 33 years old and had been with the troopers for 6 years
.
 

 

John David Stimson

Fish and Wildlife Protection

January 14, 1983

Trooper Stimson was killed in a helicopter crash during a rescue mission.
He died at the age of 41 and had served the Department of Public Safety for over 11 years
.
 

 

Gordon Brewster Bartel   

Kodiak Police Department

January 15, 1983

Officer Bartel was shot and killed by a man he was citing for illegal camping in downtown Kodiak. 
Officer Bartel was only 29 years old and had been with the Kodiak Police Department for two years.
 

 

Troy Lynn Duncan   

Alaska State Troopers

May 19, 1984

Trooper Duncan was shot and killed during a manhunt for a serial killer near Manley Hot Springs. 
He was 34 years old at the time of his death and had been a trooper for almost three years
.
 

 

David Cameron Harris

56th MP Co. Ft. Richardson

July 23, 1984

Sergeant Harris died on duty at the age of 25 as a result of an automobile accident on Tudor Road in
Anchorage.  He served the U.S Army as a Military Police Officer with the 56th M.P. Company at Ft. Richardson
.
 

 

Ignatious John Charlie

Alakanuk Police Department

May 10,  1985

Officer Charlie stopped to investigate an abandoned snow machine
and was shot and killed. He was 20 years old at the time of his death
.
 

 

Harry Biddington Hanson, Jr.

Anchorage Police Department

July 17, 1986

Officer Hanson was shot while covering gunfire for another officer during a shoot-out.  He was 41 years old,
 and a K-9 officer who had been with the Anchorage Police Department for 8 years at the time of his death
.
 

 

Ronald E Zimin

VPSO South Naknek

October 22, 1986

Officer Zimin was ambushed while investigating a domestic assault call.  He was
 36 years old and the first Village Public Safety Officer killed in the line of duty
.
 

 

Louie Gordon Mizelle

Anchorage Police Department

June 6, 1986

Officer Mizelle was shot several times when he responded to a call of “shots fired”. 
He was 35 when he died and had been with the Anchorage Police Department six years
