William G Pfalmer, Jr.

Anchorage Police Department

Shot June 9, 1953 Died December 26. 1970

Officer Pfalmer was critically injured by a gunshot wound while pursuing a stolen vehicle on Spenard Rd.
in 1953.  Paralyzed from the waist down, he continued to suffer health problems related to the shooting until his
death in 1970.  His death was directly attributed to the injuries he sustained from the gunshot wound
.
 

 

George Bothwell Kelez

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

September 1, 1954

Assistant Fisheries Administrator Kelez died in a plane crash on Admiralty
Island while on a flight back from Sitka. Four others died in the crash
 

 

 

Clarence Edward Toone

U.S. Marshal's Service

February 10, 1955

Deputy U.S. Marshal Toone died in a plane crash between Naknek and Dillingham
while returning from a prisoner transport trip
.

 

Clarence Joseph Rhode

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

August 21, 1958

Agents Rhode was killed in a plane crash during a patrol 325 miles
northeast of Fairbanks.  His body wasn’t recovered until 1979

 

 

Stanley Stewart Fredericksen

U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service

August 21, 1958

Agent Fredericksen was killed in the same plane crash during a patrol 325
miles northeast of Fairbanks.  His body wasn’t recovered until 1979
 

 

Doris Wayne Barber   

Sitka Police Department

July 28,1960

Officer Barber was shot while serving a court order for personal property to
be returned.  He had been with the Sitka Police Department for only 2 months
.
