Officer Pfalmer was critically injured by a gunshot wound while pursuing a
stolen vehicle on Spenard Rd.
in 1953. Paralyzed from the waist down, he continued to suffer health
problems related to the shooting until his
death in 1970. His death was directly attributed to the injuries he
sustained from the gunshot wound.
George Bothwell Kelez

Assistant Fisheries Administrator Kelez died in a plane crash on Admiralty
Island while on a flight back from Sitka. Four others died in the crash

Deputy U.S. Marshal Toone died in a plane crash between Naknek and
Dillingham
while returning from a prisoner transport trip.
Clarence Joseph Rhode

northeast of Fairbanks. His body wasn’t recovered until 1979

Officer Barber was shot while serving a court order for personal property to
be returned. He had been with the Sitka Police Department for only 2 months.
