Deputy U.S. Marshal Anders was shot and killed while attempting to serve a “peace warrant” on a suspect in Hot Springs
 

 

Harry Clinch Kavanaugh

Anchorage Police Department

January 3, 1924

Chief Kavanaugh was shot and killed on January 2nd, 1924 while attempting to
 arrest a suspect in a log cabin at 8th and B Street in Anchorage.  He died the next day

James E. Hill

U.S. Marshal's Service

October 30, 1924

Deputy U.S. Marshal Hill was shot and killed while searching for
bootleg alcohol on a farm near Seldovia.  His killer then committed suicide.
 

 

Edwin H. Sherman

U.S. Marshal's Service

April 21, 1930

Deputy U.S. Marshal Sherman was shot and killed while attempting
to arrest a suspect in Haines.  The suspect then committed suicide
