Alvin G. Miller

Fairbanks Police Department

November 2, 1908
Chief Miller was shot and killed by a suspect while attempting to arrest her at the Pioneer
 Hotel in Fairbanks.  He was the first and only FPD officer killed until 1998

Charles H. Wiley

City of Seward

October 4, 1917

Night Marshal Wiley was shot and killed while attempting to take a suspect into custody
at the Hotel Overland.  He worked as both Seward’s fire chief and night marshal
.
 

 

John Fraser Pugh

U.S. Customs

October 24, 1918

Jack Pugh, Chief Customs Collector of Alaska, died on the Princess Sophia, the boat was enroute to Juneau from Skagway.

 

Clyde D. Calhoon

U.S. Marshal's Service

February 12, 1919

Deputy U.S. Marshal Calhoun was shot and killed by a suspect he had just
placed under arrest in Klawock.  The killer committed suicide two days later.
 

 

Isaac Evans

U.S. Marshal's Service

September 1, 1919

Deputy U.S. Marshal Evans was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a murder suspect in Seward.
